Landis+Gyr urges the EC to promote a speedier implementation of smart metering in Europe
“It is encouraging that the European Commission has not only recognized the many benefits that smart metering and smart grid technologies can bring to European consumers; but also that this key technology is not currently being deployed fast enough. The sooner smart metering is deployed, the sooner European consumers and energy companies can take advantage of the services it provides. ”, said Jon Stretch, Executive Vice President EMEA. “The critical question is how the EU is going to turn this knowledge into action. We don’t have much time to left to reach the EU’s 20-20-20 goals – and other areas of the world are deploying these technologies faster than Europe” he added.
