Over 20 Utilities Select Gridstream PLC for Advanced Metering Deployments

The agreements include six utilities who are deploying advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) systems for the first time and 15 who are transitioning to Gridstream from a one-way advanced metering system.

Utilities who have selected Gridstream PLC this year include: Tallapoosa River Electric, South Alabama Electric Cooperative, and Clarke-Washington EMC in Alabama; City of Sitka in Alaska; Woodruff Electric in Arkansas; Blue Ridge Mountain EMC in Georgia; Fulton County REMC and Wabash County REMC in Indiana; Fleming-Mason Energy Cooperative, Inter-County Energy Cooperative and Grayson RECC in Kentucky; Steele-Waseca Electric Cooperative and Traverse Electric Cooperative in Minnesota; Tishomingo County EPA and Coast Electric Power Association in Mississippi; Town of La Grange in North Carolina; Douglas Electric and Consumers Power in Oregon; Tri-County REC in Pennsylvania; Craig-Botetourt Electric in Virginia; and Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative in Wisconsin. “Landis+Gyr is committed to providing a way for customers to upgrade technology while minimizing stranded assets,” said Jeff Carkhuff, General Manager of Middle Market Systems at Landis+Gyr. “This allows existing customers to move from one-way to two-way networks while using the same software platform and dual-purpose infrastructure.” Gridstream PLC is a power line carrier-based, two-way advanced metering system that provides continuous and simultaneous communication with each meter and end device on the network. Gridstream technology enables streaming of multiple meter data values, unsolicited outage notification, load management, remote service connection, grid analytics, and home area network capabilities. With a number of utilities investigating federal stimulus funding for smart grid projects, Landis+Gyr anticipates an increase in advanced metering activity in the coming months.
