Remote Access solution for prepayment meters – enhancing revenue protection
The Remote Access Terminal forms an integral part of Landis+Gyr’s multi-part prepayment metering solution which consists of a range of PLC split meters, the Remote Access Terminal and the Communications controller.
The communications controller is a back-office system situated at the utility offices and typically comprises Suprima Talk applications server and Suprima Talk database server. Suprima Talk communicates with the Remote Access Terminal by means of GPRS or Ethernet. The design caters for web service interfaces to external systems such as Landis+Gyr’s Suprima prepayment vending system, SAP or other Customer Information Systems.
While split prepayment metering is already proven world-wide to be a highly effective prepayment solution to reduce fraud and bypassing of the meter, the Remote Access solution further enhances the utility’s ability to protect revenue.
Benefits of this solution include remote auditing of prepayment meters, prepayment meter fraud notifications and the ability to check status of the meter remotely. A range of prepayment meter parameters can be accessed, thereby providing valuable information such as consumption patterns, statistics and load profiles.
